Yo Yo Scarfs

The last presents I gave in 2009 are .....

YO YO SCARVES!

If you aren't familiar with a "yoyo" they are small pieces of material gathered in the middle to make a flowerish shape. They are mostly used in quilting-BUT-I recently got a pattern by McCAll's that showed all the neat stuff you can make with yoyos.
But if you know me......you know I didn't go by the patterns....I designed my own! :)
So without further a due....The Yo Yo Scarves

This scarf was made out of cotton brown/blue/green plaid material. It was made with love for my wonderful sister Laura! Maybe next winter Gracie will get one too :)!




The next scarf was made for my beautiful and BrIgHt best friend, Donna! She loves black and hot pink and lives in Indiana...So I figured that this scarf would be perfect for her!And I knew a little bling wouldn't hurt either! :)




This deep purple linen scarf was made for the newly engaged :) Whitney! My college friend and room-mate looks gorgeous in purple, so I thought this was only fitting!




This scarf was made for Sarah, also a college friend/roommate with the best personality! We never planned it-but we always ended up with the "near to same" outfit on everyday! (Maybe that's why I want this scarf!) Even though she lives in California now.....I thought she could still use a scarf! :)

Yes...MORE presents! :) I love giving presents, but I especially love making them! The paintings below were made for my husband's parents and grandparents!

Wreaths

Here are some of the Christmas presents I've delivered so far.....

A Wreath for my parents front door made out of Magnolia Leaves.




A Pine cone wreath made for my Granny.



Both of these wreaths were fun and easy to make, but time consuming! I love the way they both turned out, I'm sure the recipients do too!

I've been a busy little Elf helping Santa with his gifts. I wish I could post some of the finished products, but some of the recipients won't be getting them until Christmas or after! So......not to spoil the surprises, I will post the items as they get them!

It's Christmas Time in our House!

Here are a couple of pictures of our lovely Christmas trees. I am an expert at putting my parents' Christmas trees up, What branches go on first -to- what ornament goes on last.
SO....while starting to put our trees up-I had to step back about fifty times to make sure everything looked good! After putting both trees up....twice I got the procedure down pat.



The Christmas tree in the living room is now called the icicle tree, which was not intended. Throughout the years my parents, Michael's parents, my sister and cousin gave me beautiful ornaments. I didn't realize, until I started unwrapping all of the ornaments, they were all Icicles! I guess it's a good thing I love the icy look in a tree! :)



This ruggedly handsome tree is our Cowboy Tree. My mom was the culprit on starting this tree, she found and purchased some AWESOME ornaments for me one year. Of course, being the savvy shopper she is- she purchased them after Christmas on sale! This event led to a cowboy tree and more good finds on sale at Dillards!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I know my blog appears to be in December already, but if you know me I celebrate each holiday a month too early! :) My Thanksgiving decorations were up before Halloween, SO you can probably guess... my house is already decorated for Christmas!
But I do still celebrate the holidays as they come around....
So Happy Thanksgiving or Turkey Day!

I am thankful for: Michael, Family, Friends, the house we are in, the food we eat, coupons :), my trusty vehicle, my health, the wonderful smells coming from my oven, UT :), art and architecture, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, our country, our town, our veterans, the brave men and women who serve our country, and The Lord for letting us have all of these things to be Thankful For!

Snow Family

My sister loves snowmen and her family, so by her hinted request I made her a Snowman Family for her Birthday! I thought it turned out really cute and I just had to give Gracie a Bow!

Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone had a safe and FUN Halloween! We had 38 trick or treaters! I loved seeing all the great costumes! Here are a few pictures from our Halloween! I carved a couple of pumpkins, one for me and one for my parents house. The "bat" stayed on our steps and the "Halloween Face" pumpkin went to my parent's house. And although I wasn't Audrey Hepburn as planned, I was a witch for our trick or treaters :)!

Gracie's Visit to TN!

My sister Laura and her husband Matt went on a weekend vacation. We meet them halfway to pick up my niece Gracie and well.....shop :). These are some pictures from the visit, we already miss them!

For Sarah:

Here is a little something for Sarah (I'm more than a little late for her b-day, but I knew she wouldn't mind). My sister got me one of these great bags and I carried it throughout college. Sarah and I both took our lunches to class and she loved the idea of the insulated bag. So as we enter the "real" world, I thought she needed a decorated, insulated lunch bag. I got it monogrammed with Sarah's initials and spiced it up with polka dot Navy ribbon!

This deserves its own post...

So as my last entry showed you, I entered some stuff in the fair this year. Well, little did I know that I shouldn't enter my architectural models in the fair. The models they refer to are cars, trucks, and ahem this.....



a skull thingy-on a monster truck? which I'm sure is technically a model. But I entered this.....



A model that I made for my project design for Georgetown University. The building is made out of basswood, and the base is made of mdf,chipboard, and LOTS of graphite dust (that's why the base is grey).Michael warned me that most models entered are not like mine. BUT I remember this crazy large awesome boat I saw entered one year....I totally would've agreed to second place that year. But I guess I'm just biased to my own work! :)

Fair Entries

This is my Fair Picture Entry-it won 1st Place! I was so excited! I took this picture last year (of course) while in a photography class. This is one of the many pictures I hand developed, it was a lot of fun!




This is a bowl I entered in the Heritage category. I made the pottery pieces while in an UT wheel spinning pottery class.

I Love Fall!

Oranges, browns, and yummy yellows! I finally designed a little on my blog, I know it still needs work. But for now, it is Falled Out! Plus the fair is this week and I am super excited about it! Mostly about FAIR FOOD! This will be the first time in five years I am actually home for the fair. It is also the first time I am entering photos and ceramics in the fair! Oh and I didn't forget the UT game this weekend, Go Vols! :) UT also gave me a little inspiration on my design! Happy Fall!
