Cookeville Essex Lunch Trip Memorial Weekend

I'm back with the Essex Report from the Cookeville store. I thought I would give you all a quicker update than usual since the store is having some great sales!

I won't go into a ton of detail in this post, but I did find several things worth mentioning!

But that is quite the savings, considering Walmart has it priced for $698. You would save $259!

A Quilt Square

This is the quilt square I created to help find a cure for MS.

I made yo-yo's and placed them on an 8x8 square to spell MS.

Each quilt square is made by people affected by MS, whether it be for a friend or family member. 

The quilt will be sold to help raise awareness.

I made the quilt square for my cousin, Heather.

She is raising funds and awareness by creating a BIG event this fall.

Saturday, October 22, 2011 there will be an MS Walk here in McMinnville.

It will be the first one EVER in McMinnville.

Heather's Team is Hedy's Heroes.

So make sure you mark that date to come 

and help find a cure for MS!

Essex Finds 05.21.11 Mt. Juliet

I'm back from a shopping weekend with good finds! :)

I found a couple things at Essex in Mt. Juliet!

My small buy- a BB Dakota Dress for $15 (original price $78).

It has a slight racer back and a tulip/bubble hem.

It was part of the Store-wide bargain hunt, so I got an extra 10% off!
= $134.10!

Colin Tufted Tub Chair

The only thing I found different was the legs on my chair were backwards.

No Problem, I just unscrewed them, and put the roller legs in the front and the stationary ones in the back! :)
I'm in love with the chair!

How it works:

Look at the Essex price sticker.

You will see a date. 

If the date is older than 30 days it is 10% off

All the way through 110 days or older is 90% off!

There are signs throughout the store explaining how many days is what percentage.

I've scoured the store and you'll be able to get some great deals! 

(Still lots of winter coats, tools, gardening, and baby stuff!)

The recipe my Husband asks for.....

I cooked this -kind of made up from multiple recipes- Chicken Parmesan one night a few weeks ago.

Since then, that is all my Husband asks for. He mentions the dish anytime he can, so apparently he likes it...a lot.

I varied the recipes because I didn't seem to ever have ALL the ingredients, so I came up with one I did have all the ingredients for. 

All of the recipes called for different herbs and seasonings. Since I only had one of them handy, I just decided to use the "Italian  Seasoning" I had just gotten - made by Paula Deen. 

(Found at Big Lots - at a great price!)

The recipe is actually pretty simple.

Ingredients:

Chicken breasts/tenders, 4 oz Mozzarella Cheese, 2 tbsp of Parmesan Cheese, 2 cups of Marinara Sauce, 1/2 cups breadcrumbs, 2 tbsp Olive Oil, 2 tbsp Italian Seasoning (or Italian Herbs)

Preheat the Oven to 500 degrees.

Heat Olive Oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

Mix the breadcrumbs and Italian Seasoning in a shallow dish. Press the chicken into the mixture (all sides), shaking off  the excess. Place the chicken in the skillet, let brown (about 3 mins per side).

(I use about 4-5 chicken tenders, but if you have more people in your family just up the number of chicken tenders/ breasts. The 1/2 cup breadcrumbs could have covered 8 tenders-easily).

Next, place the chicken in an oven proof dish. Spoon the marinara sauce around and over the chicken. Then add the parmesan cheese over the chicken then the mozzarella.

Cover the dish in foil, place in oven and let cook for 10 mins.

Uncover dish and allow to cook for 5 mins.

Done!-I serve the Chicken Parmesan over spaghetti noodles.

I went to Essex Monday and found some goodies!
A free-standing closet organizer (will see if it works- $29.99!).
A box of paper doilies, 1,000 ct for $7.50 (Finally marked 50% off!)
-I know -what am I doing with 1,000? doilies? I've got a few ideas!-
A Country Living fabric tablecloth for $4.80!
And some wrapping paper for a $1 a roll.

Clothes:
I saw a sign that said the winter coats were gonna be 50% off this weekend.
There was a ton of Timberland coats and a North Face(still $69.99 though) in there!
Still several formal dresses (some cute ones from ABS for $40)

Babies/Kids:
Lots of Safety Bed Net Rail type things

Also learned this shopping trip- You can't take merchandise back to a different area store.
You have to take the item back to the same Essex you purchased it in.

My friend, Michelle was married Saturday! 

She had picked some gorgeous dishes out from Pottery Barn.

If you haven't seen them (Emma Dishes), you definitely need to pay PB a visit!

I thought she needed to have some equally fun and beautiful dish towels and apron!

This is a new design I created, I thought the bird was so cute!

Michelle was a breath-taking bride! 

I wish her and David a very happy marriage and a wonderful new life together!
